I originally had 6GB of XMS3 RAM, and I then bought another 6GB of XMS3 RAM.

When I put the new RAM in to my machine which has a GA-X58A-UD5 motherboard, the PC will not post to the BIOS loading screen. I have made sure that all RAM settings are defualt before installing the new hardware but I noticed my original set of XMS3 RAM is 8-8-8 while the new set is 9-9-9.

Do you think that this is the cause?

Just thought, if your system is overclocked try putting all back to stock also the memory to 1333mhz.

Also does the memory work on its own.

Hi, thank for the fast reply...

Yes, all settings are back to default on the motherboard. So that means no overclocking at all.

Additionally, yes, the new memory works on it's own. I updated my BIOS a few months ago, it is the newest available.

Try setting the timings manually to 9-9-9-(24/27?)
Maybe it's trying to boot with 8-8-8- and you new ram can't handle it.

Try booting with your original ram with slacker timings, then add the new set. Also, try upping the qpi voltage a touch. Filling all ram slots increases the strain on the cpu's integrated memory controller.

mine did the same with the same ram type ,pull battery and do a popper bios reset ,then new ram and boot ,then add old ram ,it worked for me
and then clock it back to 4ghz
