Got a recondition X61 from a friend who wants to install Vista on it, problem is, the bios has locked out all usb until after boot up, but the laptop has no OS on it.

She bought it from a guy on a certain web site and now he isnt answering her calls..funny that.

Ive had a look, can get the keyboard off, but cant seem to find a BIOS chip to clear/remove..

Anyone else every had to do this on a X61 laptop? Ive tried google, again it still hates me.

Press the blue button before it tries to boot from the HD and see if you can get into the BIOS screen (I hope its not password protected...)

It is password protected. I think she has been conned into buying a laptop the seller knew was not going to be able to take a OS.

Been told she can get round it if she buys a new M/B eek.

Will keep trying.

Hmm, unfortunately the cost of a new lenovo sourced MB will probably cost more than sourcing another one from ebay, plus the fitting is difficult, sorry.
