X64 + USB DSL Modems=Limited Support

Thought I would try the x64 trial as all my hardware drivers were available.

Found out after installing that x64 does not support any USB DSL modems unless they have a built in router & support bridged PPOE.

Even though your DSL modem hardware drivers may be designed for x64 it cannot connect as it requires a specific way to lock onto the DSL signal.

Does not look good for Vista either as that is supposed to use the same 64bit driver model!

That's not enirely accurate, but I wouldn't worry about it anyway ;) When Vista is out the floodgates will open and 64bit driver support will become the norm before long.

And you should be using a router anyway - much more secure :)
