Which one in your opinion should i go for and what's the best mobo and ram for the cpu,

Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 2.93GHz Socket LGA775, 4MB, BOXED w/fan = €995.01 inc vat

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 2.67GHz Socket LGA775, 8MB, BOXED w/fan = €975.01 inc vat
 
i know the quad would be great but you always see that games etc are not designed to utilize the 4 cores.


i was swinging to the qx as the prices are so very close
 
what mobo and ram would get the best from the quad core, i will be ocing it as i will be watercooling the rig

I will use my current graphics card until the new DX10 ATI ones come out, and my Hiper PSU for the moment.
 
i will be using it for gaming, rendering and generally anything i turn my hand to.


I will pop Vista onto it when sp1 comes out
 
Any use the Gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6, nForce-680i SLI ,ATX , Socket-775, 4xGbLAN, 2xPCI-Ex16 or know whats its like

I am building two machines, one for my office as a test bed, and the other is coming with me for home use.

perfect chaos, if it was my money i would have done that too, but my job is paying for the two machines, i also ordered 3 x SEAGATE - CHEETAH 15K.5 146GB U320 3.5IN 3.5MS 15KRPM 16MB 68PIN.
