X79 RIVE: NEED HELP

Just got a brand new RIVE from OCUK today, due to having to RMA my original board. So, I get it all connected up, turn it on and everything spins up. Then I see I have no signal on my monitor, check the mobo and see I have code 00 and the Cpu led is red. Turn of the system and check the Cpu socket, no bent or broken pins. But I did notice in the middle of the socket, that some of the transistors are not in line and seem pretty scratched up. I compared this against my X79 Pro board which are all perfect, in line and no scratches.
I have even tried to flash the bios using a flashdrive plugged in the back of the board and pressing the button for 3 seconds. I release the button as soon as the led comes on, it flashes 3 or 4 times, then nothing. Now, I know from watching a video, that it is supposed to keep flashing until the bios has been installed, which is longer than 4 flashes. And yes, I renamed the latest bios 4901 to R4E.ROM and formatted the drive to Fat32.

So, what am I missing, if anything. Everything works ok on the Pro board. The problem is the Cpu is not being detected.

what cpu?

you can pull out the bios chip and order a pre flashed one with latest bios,

Sorry, should have mentioned it, a 3930k.

Don't really want to be spending more money, especially on a new board.

Looking like another RMA, hopefully, 3rd time lucky.:D

it should work ok then

did you leave cmos battery out for 30 minutes then try? also tried cleaning the socket transistors in the middle with cotton bud and thermal paste cleaner?

Got the battery out at the moment.

Will try cleaning the transistors later. Tbh, I would'nt have thought that necessary on a brand new board.
Just wondering, if the transistors are not properly lined up(one of then seems to move slightly) or badly scratched, would this stop the Cpu from being detected?

if it moves then probably, scratched is usually ok

but none of the transistors should move, loose soldering joint

The one at the top right row as you look at it, moves slightly.
Just had a read on the ROG forum and thought I would try out one of their solutions.

Those going is bad news, if you're handy with an iron, you could attempt to resolder them provided you haven't destroyed the pads

I have absolutely no intention of doing any sort of soldering, considering it is a brand new board.

yh I would try that guide,if no joy rma again and point out the loose transistor

The LN2 switch was already set to off, but I've also put the jumper to the disabled position. Took the Cmos battery out as well, so should be about 12 hours by the time I get up tomorrow.
So, if it does'nt boot up tomorrow, it's going back.

Off topic, I don't suppose you know where I could get a decent x30 or x40 magnifying lens/glass from?
