Hi hi,
I gave in to the temptation of the evil finance men, and got myself some upgrades (Gigabyte x79-UD3, i7-3820, 16gb Samsung Green, a couple of SSDs). I've spent the whole weekend trying to get this build working, and finally isolated the problem to one of the RAM slots on the MoBo.
I have the system working just fine now with 12gb of RAM, but I bought a quad channel setup and I want it working. I've swapped and changed the RAM, I can use any 3 sticks in the other 3 slots.
With all 4 sticks in the system posts just fine, and the BIOS sees the full 16gb. Booting Windows 7/Windows 7 setup BSOD while the dots of the logo form (at precisely the same time every time), even memtest86 just crashes almost immediately at 32% throught the first test.
I really don't want to have to send the whole motherboard back, so I want to totally exhaust my options in getting this slot working. Can anyone give me any tips??
The only other bits in there are HD6950, Corsair 60gb Force 3 SSD and a 630w Cooler master Hyperx PSU. Everything else unplugged until these base components are working.
Thanks for any tips you come up with, even more thanks if the tips work!
