Just receieved some parts today, 1 of those being an x800 GTO, however unluckily its naffed :( ..... garbled text and colours the minute it initializes the monitor. Tested another PCI-E and also an AGP card and no problems.

Luck of the draw i guess, thank god i have spare parts everywhere.... 32mb AGP will have to do until a replacement arrives.

Damn, and i was looking forward to seeing the differences between the x800 and my x1800, considering its less then half the price.

P.S. thanx to the guys on tech support who were very helpful on the matter.

Been looking around the web, and i've found i'm not the only one who has receievd a defective x800, not from OCUK but in general. The problem doesnt appear to be massively widespread, but from what i can tell it varies from being total corruption & artifacts at bios, boot, and in windows like this one is, or they range to artifacts on stressful games.

So anyone else had issues with their x800?

An X800 GTO 16 (all 16 pipes unlocked by powercolor) gave me so much trouble I bought a new mobo (sli) and just installed a 7900 GT, to get over it.

OcUK just mailed me to say replacement X800 is on the way back to me.

Now if I get me some money back on that card and all the bits around here in a PC, I might be able to get me another 7900 to keep this one from getting lonely.

mine and a lot of x1900xt's display funny boot screens when booting, fine when going into the bios and such, just on screen logo's are funny colurs.

wonder if there are bios updates for it.

There is, but i would'nt bother just for that as its just a picture that displays for about 2 seconds and says the name of your motherboard, nowt special thats it, if you don't want to see it just go into the BIOS and disable full screen logo, then you will get the normal post messages like the memory count, drives etc... instead. :p

It happens on all ATi cards.

Yes i have that with x1800xt, i've checked the Epox site and its fixed in the bios update, though as said, its easier and safer to just disable the logo.

Onto the x800 issue at hand though. I did'nt OC or do anything with the card other then install it, its not even had a 5 minute life. Ironic that it should happen when i'm building for a friend, because i've not once receieved a faulty part for myself.

I get shouted out for having spare parts laying around everywhere, but without them my friend would'nt have a working PC right now, so i'm rather thankful for my ignorance in losing the spares.

So guys what your experience with doing RMA's?... i've never needed or had to do one up till now, it would be handy to know the in's and out's of an RMA, and any tips you guys have.
