I purchased one of these from OCuk because of the rave reviews on how overclockable these are due to the R480 core. In all the reviews this card is meant to have power connected to it but mine doesn't have a connector?

Anyone know if these cards have been changed and if so will the lack of power restrict it's performance?

IF yours doesn't have the extra power connector then it does indeed have the R430 core.

Originally these cards were stonkers but the newest revisions are just rebadged X800XL's. Not bad cards but not very overclockable.

I would make sure on the core before ordering. Send this one back and look at the powercolor X800GT - These are currently shipping with R480 cores moddable to sixteen pipelines and highly OC'able.

Alas I will be returning it then. This card won't get close to the performance of the old cards.

Very sneeky of Sapphire who will get sales based upon the old benchmarks.

So was this one supposed to be ...

TBH I would now be a little wary of ordering another X800 on the off chance that it will have a R480 core.

Sapphire sent review cards out with R480 cores to all the reviewers. For them to change the spec and keep the same product name is unforgiveable.

Anyone know if the PowerColor ATI Radeon X850 XT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-037-PC) is a good card?

well it runs 520/540 out of the box, most will do 550/600 or higher, depending how well it clocks

I was thinking of getting the GTO2 but went for a proper XT in the end, and I'm not regretting it :)

The extra cost for a proper X850 is worth it IMHO

I agree. They don't cost that much more than the X800 Gto2 either because the Gto2 are priced at a slight premium because they are meant to be better cards than the rest of the X800 range.
