I have an AGP X800 Pro, which seems to have died.
Well, actually it died a long time ago but it just dawned on me that posting in this forum could help.
It was in a GA-8IG100MK motherboard...
If I push it (the x800) all the way into the AGP slot, the computer doesn't get to the BEEP (I think thats "post"?)... But the fans boot and hard drive makes the crunchy-kinda sound. The screen doesn't wake up, either.
If I pull it out *slightly*, a motherboard light comes on which is labelled as "2X_DET". I can only imagine that means 2x AGP Detected? Well, if that light is on, the computer just doesn't do anything... press the on switch, no fans, no nothing.
Just to clarify, if I push the x800 all the way in, that light goes off. It's also off if I pull the graphics card all the way out. The graphics card has to be in just the right position to make that light come on.
The extra molex was plugged into it fine - I even tried a different molex from the PSU. So that's not the problem..?
So... do I have a dead x800? I'm using on-board video at the moment (I say using, I haven't really used the PC much since the card broke).
I have one other computer I could try the x800 in, which I'll do tomorrow I guess (can't wake people up by stealing the family computer right now... lol). But before hand, is there anything else you can think of? Do you think it's likely to be the mobo rather than the card? You rekon a bios flash would change anything? After all, the GFX card did work fine for just over a year before it stopped working... It sucks that £300 (well, £100 if that now) died on me
