x800GT versus x1600XT

I bought a shuttle SN26P yesterday and instead of the x1600XT 256mb I expected it came with an x800GT 256mb instead. I've been told the x800 is better anyway, is this true?

if its a GT and not a GTO then its the slowest of the G* range, AFAIK its 8 pipes on a GT, 12 on a GTO and 16 on the XL/XT etc.

I *think* the 1600XT would be faster, but who knows. What spec memory does it have? DDR, DDR3?

I think you're right it's a GTO, and it has ddr3 whereas the x1600xt is only ddr2.

From what google tells me the x800 gto ddr3 256mb is superior to the x1600 xt ddr2 256mb. I think

Now my only concerns are heat, noise etc... being as this is a media centre.

256bit vs 128bit bus, GTO would be better in current n past stuff, 1600 into the SM3 era, as it'll actually do it

Its not that noisy, but you can get an arctic cooler for it, got one on my 9500 pro, silent and exhausts all the hot air too.

I would speak to who you bought it off, the X800GT is a 50quid card and the X1600XT is a 100-120quid card.

I bought a system rather than a card so I'm less worried with which is the most expensive and more concerned with what's best.

x1600 XT 256mb ddr2
