X800XL > 8800GTS

Is it worth doing? Am i likely to reap the benefits on a screen running 1360x768 or should i consider a better screen first then moving to the new ATi cards out soon.

LOL is the sky blue ? Are bacon sarnys not the best sarny ever? Are these the most pointless questions ever ? OF COURSE ITS THE RIGHT CHOICE ! 8800 will totally and utterly pass waste from a serious height over an x800, even at that 'low res' you can wack on 16AA/16AF and have some seriously nice image qual-atey, think that answers it tbh

OMG!!! get some new pants on standby.

what he said, i moved from two 7900GS in SLI and i see large improvement with non of those stupid errors you get from using SLI, my mate went from X1600Pro to 8800GTS, and he said 'will i see decent improvement' his face when he discovered for himself :p

An x1600pro to one, bloody hell i bet he **** himself for a month when he saw the performance boost from that, that will just be staggering, be like a whole new era, he probably still hasn't recovered from the shock. :D

But the 2nd part of the question is interesting.. would you see any *real* benefit at low res..

Is it possible to see the difference between 60fps and 160fps?

the x800's would struggle with a lot of games with the image quality turned up, so yes you'll still see a large difference. it'll look better and run faster.

:D

So solid replies there, thanks. May have to invest in one. The prices are outstanding too...saw one for £160ish i think, will have to hunt again to find it.

Cheers!

Will get a higher resolution monitor to use it on in a few months.
