Looking to upgrade my soon to be sold ageing agp card to 1 of latest pci-e cards up to £250, with a significant performance hike over my current one, Tho im unsure on which route to go down with so many on the market and with DX10 around the corner

what size monitor do you have and what resolutions do you game at? given youl probably be upgrading again in 12 months it may not be beneficial for you to go for a top of the range, all depends on your gaming resolutions.

the price of the x1900XT's at the moment, it would be rude not too.

I have just upgraded from an X800XL to a X1900XT and there is a huge difference, well impressed with it :)

As said, one of the X1900XTs at the moment would be a great upgrade for you, or alternatively you could wait and see if you like the looks of the X1950 series that are due out soon. Supposedly the X1950XT will be around your budget, and will perform around the levels of the 7950GX2. :)

As the X1900XT is only £205 this week though, you'd be saving a small fortune and could buy a Zalman VF900-Cu cooler to put on it with lots of spare change. ;)

Thats if he can wait until the 14th of Sept. :D
Aye, with the offer on the X1900XT right now it might simply be impossible to restrain himself. :) I'd buy it myself if I weren't still waiting to hear from Sapphire, as I may end up with one of those anyway. (Wishful thinking, I know, but not impossible. :p)

Does this new X1950 support DX10?, Haveing this maybe a good thing as i dont plan to upgrade for some time after this change. ;)

Nope, you will have to wait for Nvidia's G80 or ATI's R600 if you want DirectX 10, and expect to pay a lot more than £250 for those. DirectX 10 isn't even worth thinking about yet though, as the only game using it until the middle or end of next year will be Crysis, which means your card would be ancient by the time you got to use it to its full potential.

Go for the Connect3D, it and the Sapphire are identical but the HIS comes with a better cooler, which you won't need as you're putting a water block on it.

I'm afraid that if the 7600GT was too big, then the X1900XT might be way too big. :(

I've just placed my order for an 'Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3' !!!!!

Woohoo... roll on Wednesday :D with the rest of my rig I'm hoping for some stunning graphics and game play!!!! :D :D :D
