X800XL Core speeds

What realistically can you clock one of these to. I have had it up to 450 and at 470 it locks the benchmark up. Are there any mods you can do to eek a few more mhz from it?

The memory I am getting upto 585 with no artifacts, any more and I'm scared I'll fry it. Gotta try an Arctic Cooler.

You can volt mod them with a pencil. Never tried it, too scared. You will be able squeeze more out of it that way.

would even a voltmod help an X800XL core? Always thought they were poor clockers compared to the X850's no matter what you do.

yes it would. i believe the X800XL line used a lower core voltage to prevent insane overclocking and to preotect the the XTPE lines.

Hmmm interesting. Looks like I may just voltmod my X800 Bravo then. I get stuck on about 450mhz.

do a google for the X800 pencil mod. it applies to all the x800 series. make sure you use good air cooling/water as heat will increase dramatically.

I'm using a VF700-AlCu and temps are about 37*c idle, 55*c load. it's worth a try. I've already partially damaged the card by ripping 2 cappies off. May as well get as much out of it as possible.
