X800XT and 24" monitor?

Evening all.

Just trying to assess whether my X800XT will be able to cope with a 24" monitor.

I've been running 3 separate monitors for about 3 months and its just too much. Taking up lots of space on my desk and TBH, 3 monitors is more than any sane person needs (probably explains why I brought them in the first place:p). So I'm looking at downsizing to a single, overly large monitor :D

I'm looking at getting a 2405FP/2407FP which both run at 1920x1200. Most of my gaming is done in UT2004 and BF2. Of course, I already have £34.99 set aside for UT2007 when its released. Whilst I'm confident that my X800XT will cope fine with a normal desktop, what can I expect from it in games, if anything???

TIA

HI there

The X800 will do the resolution but games will be dog slow at the native resolution of 1920x1200. If you want to play at native resolution with AA+AF and HDR your gonna need minimum of X1800 XT or 7900 GT and higher to power that resolution well. If you can afford something better like an X1900 then its recommended.

yea get a x1900 while there still about and cheap, no point spending all that on a nice tft and not having the card to run it imo.
x1900 and a 2407 is a great combo :D

BF2 ran fine on my 24" as did a lot of other games when i was using the x800pro 16pipe edition, but as Gibbo has stated allready as soon as you start adding all that candy its gunna bog down. HDR and high AA/AF like to eat older cards for breakfast :P

Id say go for it you will never regret buying the 24", 1920x1200 is a very sweet resolution :D

Well,

I've finally got some interest on the MM for my monitors. So now its time to start taking things seriously

I know I'm going to have to bite a very large bullet and am planning on upgrading to an X1900XT. The question now presents itself:
How much GFX ram do I need.?
I only ask because there is a VERY noticable price difference in 256mb and 512mb.

All input welcome :D

TIA

for 1600x1200 and higher resolutions 512 onboard GDDR3 or 4 is recommended.

I'm in the same position and have been researching it all evening, here are some good links:

This is great for comparing cards:

I'm sure these don't break any competition rules, please let me know if they do

One question - when reading reviews how similar will the results be for a card set to 1600x1200 / 32bit / 4xAA / 8xAF compared to 1920x1200 / 32bit / with low-medium AA/AF (maybe even no AA/AF)
