I've been looking to output from my X800XT to my new tele at 1080i. The dongle many people use doesn't appear to support the X800 series, though.

There is an s-video and a dvi out on this card - is there a cable that will let me output from either of these at 1080i to the component in on my tele?

Cheers, Warb

I've had a quick hunt, but haven't seen the box for a while now. Is it a dvi or s-video to component? Do you know whether it supports 1080i?

Cheers

it will be a cable with 3x phono type plugs, red green and blue (IIRC).

You cannot take a SVHS, or DVI connection to componant.

sorry to be rude but dont listen to these guys, there is no cable with the x800xt u should get a little yellow adapter like the size of a pen lid with your card, which u can the plug a composite (yellow ended Phono lead) like what u have with a hi-fi you know the red and white ended phono leads? then just plug straight into the front of the TV, most new tvs have them, (yellow, red and white phono sockets) the 9800 series was exactly the same, the multi VIVO adpters that u get with a x850 / x1800 / 1900 series dont work on these cards, trust me i had the same problem, if you cant find the little adapter let me know and ill post one to you as i have about 6-7 of them from upgrading my g-cards so many times, its one of things that when you sell on your card you seem to forget to give the adpter aswell LOL.

Your post is not that easy to read, but it appears that you want him to use a composite video connection (Yellow, red & white connectors). Unfortunatly these connectors will not carry resolutions above 480i and certainly nowhere near the 1080i he is wanting.

The specifications (http://www.ati.com/products/radeonx800/specs.html) indicate you can output HDTV. You just need to get the right cable as there are 2 types, a 9 pin and a 7 pin. Quick way to find out is count the holes in the socket (the one that looks like an svideo one) and then get on ebay and buy the right one (Red (Pr) Green (Y) and Blue (Pb) connectors).

The socket on the card isn't an svideo one, its a proprietary socket that should come with adaptors for the different cables (which are probably in your lost box :p ).

There is also a small purple ati dvi-hdtv dongle (which is about $30) which is listed for the 9000 series, but works on an x1800xt and a x1900xt so would probably work on a x800xt.

The card will output 480i/480p/540p/720p/1080i over component.
