Basically i was looking to upgrade as i want full eye candy on BF2. Would the X1900GT cut it or would i need to go X1900XT, or even the X1950XT to futureproof full eye candy for the upcoming BF2142. Are the X1950 cards going to be the flagship card for a while, because if so i think i'll be able to stretch for the X1900XT if the GT doesn't sufficiently improve FPS performance over the X800XT.

i would deffo go for a x1800xt. it plays bf2 high res on my pc very very well with AA on, hant tried it with AF but im sure it still would run perfect. at 149pounds its the one to go for. the x1900gt looks better however it has less of something ( cant remember what), even though it has 36pipes it is stil slower i think. also the x1800xt has the better fan that blows the hot air out the back of the case

An x1800xt is waaaaaaaaaaaay more than capable of bf2. go get one :p

but back on topic, a x1900gt is more than suitable for bf2. As it is a high end graphics card, I would assume that bf2142 would run fine aswel.

There are some very good buys to be had that should do all you want.

The cheapest of the high end cards. Good value for the performance it provides [slighlty slower than the X1800XT]...
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900 GT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-124-SP) £140.99 Including VAT

Great value card, possibly best bang per buck at present...
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO) £152.74 Including VAT

If playing at higher res then this card is awesome value & a must buy, another contender for best bang per buck card...
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (3056) (GX-047-CO) Available This Week Only for just £169.95 +VAT.

Awesome you lot! I think i'll splurge and get me a X1900XT. Better safe than sorry. Much appreciated.

I used to play BF2 on a stock x800 XT PE maxed out in 1280x1024.

Still x1900 XT is a cracking card, get it clocked to XTX speeds which it will do without breaking a sweat as the XTX is not that much faster, and it will be 1-2fps slower than the x1950 XTX.
