Hello people, newbie to the forums here and am just looking for a bit of advice on a couple of things.

My system specs are as follows;

Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-SLI
AMD 64 3000+ (Venice)
2Gb DDR PC3200 RAM
Sapphire ATI X800XT

I've heard you can clock the X800XT up to the PE version with relative ease but being a complete noob I would rather have some advice before attempting it and probably causing my system to burst in flames :)

Also I am considering trying to get a little extra from the CPU but only using the standard heatsink and fan am unsure what is a safe and stable level.

I have had a little play with the Gigabyte EasyTune software but am not sure whether to trust or rely purely on this.

I have in place three Amberlight fans in my system in an attempt to keep my system cool and at idle my temperatures are as follows.

CPU - 25-30 Degrees C
GPU - Around 40 Degrees C

I know people would normally say to read the overclocking guides but I am looking for some more specific info and if anyone can suggest the best ways to clock my gear either by using software or BIOS and what should my maximum levels be as to not damage any of my hardware.

Any replys or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Hey there

To overclock, try using a program called ATi Tool

It will help overclock your X800 to the PE speeds easily. It'll do it all safely aswell :)

The temps look good and iirc the PE is only about 20mhz faster on the core and memory, and thats easily aquired. :)

So BIOS tweaking is definately the way to go, ok I would be totally happy if I could get my CPU to run at 2.4Ghz so would it be possible for you to detail the BIOS setting exactly as having read through the guide (bearing in mind I mentioned Im a total noob and this will be my first ever OC attempt) it does not make total sense to me. Excuse my noobness but understandably with it being my first go I need to be totally sure of what settings I'm changing and fiddling with.

Nice one :)
