My mate is ahving a problem with his graphcis card, tis 2 years old, and he has jsut installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R and he kept getting overheating msgs. He opened up his case and after inspecting the fan, he realised instead of it sucking in air into the card, thus blowing air over the heatsink, its just blowing air into the case, so little air travels over the heatsink.what can be the problem of this and how is it fixed.

What fan does he have on there? A stock X850XT fan blows in air from the case over the heatsink, but the Arctic Cooling fans you can get draw air from one side of the card over the heatsink and push it out into the case.

If he has the stock one it seems unlikely it would just reverse the fan. To do that you would need to swap some wires over. Is he sure it is blowing air into the case? I say that because those card are mounted upside down (heatsink down) so it can sometimes be hard to work out which way the fins are and the direction of rotation.
