X850XT or 7600GT

ok which is better the x850xt/pe or the 7600GT or GS.


im not bothered about things like shader 3.0 im just talking framerates here



I could get the X850XT for £90 and the GT for about £100 which is the better in games then at res 1440 x 900

I don't buy a card because its 'newer tech'. I buy a card because of the speed. Its like the 6800 vs X800 thing. The X800 series had better framerates... But the 6800 had SM3.0 . Out of those two the 7600GT is faster in terms of framerates and boasts newer tech.

7600GT definatley, the X800series dont support HDR niether, if you can go for the XFX XXX edition... its faster then the vanilla GT's and has a sexy black PCB with cool green dvi sockets

Actually, the X800 series does support HDR, just not using SM3 (obviously!). That's why you can have HDR on the X800 series in HL2:Lost Coast

I'd also go for the 7600GT as it's the faster card.

i used to have a X800GT by powercolour but could never get HDR in games like HL2... must have been doing something wrong

Depends when you had it - it was added with Lost Coast (and you could select it in the options). I could see it in Lost Coast but I didn't notice it in the game!
