X850XT PE vs X1600Xt

My card has died on me so I need to buy a new one. How much of a difference in there between the two cards above?

I will mainly be using it for DVD's and HDTV, but would like games to look decent. The resolution won't be going over the native of 1280 x 720.

The X850 XT PE is deff the better card

The bencmarks that i have seen show that the x1600 XT can barely keep up with the HIS X800 GTO

Think of the X1600XT performs on par with a 6600gt so the X850XTPE (gaming wise) will wipe the floor with it.

Although the X1600XT supports sm3.0 it isn't fast enough to utlize it.

Yup x850 XT PE wallops the x1600.

You can get get hold of XTPE's for £100 now (PCI-E). Much better buy. If however you want SM3 support I suggest looking at the 7600GT as this performs just below that of an X1800XL at mid-range resolutions. Have a look a Legit Reviews for the benchmarks. (would post link but IT dont like the site )
