Will this be a good upgrade ??? Does anyone get 10k on 3d mark 05 with the 256mb model ??

I play Counter strike source and Oblivion , and sometimes F.E.A.R.

Yeah I get 10K with a slight overclock, and 9.2K on stock

Deffo a good upgrade, went form an x800 XT PE here to a 512mb x1800 XT absolutely astonishing performance boost.

Ohh most definetly mate, my cpu is a opty 144 cabbage stepping lol that only manages 2.6ghz on 1.55V, with a 3.0ghz processor it would be very easy.

Some of these cards can reach 12k if given enough volts etc.

I went from a 256MB X800 GTO² @ X850 XT PE speeds to a 256MB X1800 XT and the difference is quite literally like night and day, it overclocks pretty great too.

Yup, should do(even without any tweaking with drivers, just stock officials). Here's my deep investigation work:

Stock gpu(625/750) and stock cpu: 9155
Stock gpu(625/750) and [email protected]: 9676
Gpu@780/864 and stock cpu: 9827
Gpu@780/864 and [email protected]: 11281

With my powercolor x1800xt 512mb and x2 3800+

Its deffinately a good upgrade.. I went from an X850XT@PE to an X1800XT 512 and the performance difference was amazing.

I can get 9500 in 05 at stock, with a little tweaking i can easily get over 10k. 11k is my next target, reckon it should be easy enough

your better off with the 512mb model if your wanting to play the latest games at high resolutions

Only want to play at 1280 by 1024 !! Does that mean i would be better with 512mb version ?

512mb only shows any performance difference at 1600x1200 and above. My 256MB X800XL doesnt suddenly run out of memory at 1600x1200...

It was just for some reference, I still can't decide whether to go for the X1800XT or an X1900XT for my new conroe system. Will game at 1280*1024. Will buy Oblivion, Hitman: Blood Money, Half Life 2 + Episode 1 and maybe F.E.A.R.
