X99 and memory speed ?

Looking at going X99 and was wondering what speeds X99 supports ?

Was looking at a quad channel kit of Corsair 3000MHz which is quite cheap at £100, Would the 5930K handle this ?

Depends on OC socket on MB. But best perfand stability is around 3000c15.

2400 - 3000 is less than 1fps is nearly all games I stuck with 2400 with low timings and this way i keep the 100mhz strap which seems to make my system more stable.

Well the difference in price is only £10 on OCUK between a 16GB quad channel kit of 2400 and 3000 so for £10 more I'd rather opt for the faster stuff

Non oc socket board here, had a bit of a niggle with the gskill 3000mhz c15 ram in sig at first. But a bios update sorted it. I was also advised upon purchase that running the ram at a lower speed on the 100 strap, but with tuned timings could result in an overall more efficient setup. So thats always an option too i guess.

I've mainly been on the "Z" platform for quite some time, Is it much different in the "X" platforms bios i.e XMP etc... ?
