In the dark..
The time has come for a new rig.

So far I'm looking at a 5930k (plans for SLI) unless there's any real need to use the newer Broadwell-E that I don't know about.

Also considering a full tower as my current rig is an ITX system and I'll be buggered if I'm going to mess about trying to squeeze everything into a case that size again. The Enthoo Primo full tower looks more than good enough, and unless there's a better case for the job I'll probably go with one, fan and controller options appreciated.

PSU will probably be in the 800-1000w range which while overkill right now will give me room to spare for future SLI implementation.

Cooling wise I'm thinking about going with either a 240 or 360 EKWB AIO for the CPU unless others would be a better option, GPU will be running on air for now (980ti ref. design) but may be plumbed in down the road.

Stumping me is motherboard choice, I like the look of the MSI XPower Titanium but it's on pre-order and I need the system up and running.

RAM wise, probably going up to 32GB as the 16GB in my current setup runs out every now and then.

Will definitely be going for at least a 256GB if not 512GB m2 Samsung SSD, already have mechanical drives.

The above is an outline of what I'm looking for, and as I said, the main stumping point is the motherboard, obviously the most expensive is the Asus R5 ed.10, but if there's a better board at a lower cost then I'd be a fool not to look for it.

You can probably get an idea of the budget I'm looking at, but it's fairly flexible, and if I get everything nailed down I'll be ordering before close of business today.

Parts ordered.

Would have liked to explore other possibilities for the motherboard, but I need the system by tomorrow at the latest and the delivery deadline was fast approaching, so I went with the Asus.

It's right about now I fully expect someone to come along and tell me I've made a glaringly obvious massive error.. Well, someone other than the bank manager that is ;)

5930k is still a great cpu but not sure why you'd go for that over broadwell-e 6800k that is cheaper and faster and would work in the same motherboard, just with bios update maybe. 5930k has more pcie lanes but that wouldnt make any difference unless you want tri or quad sli maybe, in that case a few quid extra you can get the 6850k!

As stated in my initial post, SLI is on the cards for this rig, and given that I was on a time constraint for ordering and had zero response here regarding the BW-E chips, I went with the known good option in the 5930k.

Still awaiting confirmation of shipping though, which should probably have happened if my order is going to be delivered today.

The EK Water Blocks 360 is showing as out of stock until 15th July (ETA). That could possibly be holding the order up if they ship everything together.

I have a very similiar build to this arriving today, i went with the 6850k instead though! although i have a custom loop in my Enthoo Primo

It was in stock when I ordered.

Addendum;

As of 10 minutes ago, my order has shipped, not looking good for getting a delivery today unless they're sending an express courier direct from the warehouse to my front door though, I'll remain hopeful but skeptical at the same time.

You must have gotten the last one then ;) I think I have things delivered in the past even when the order status wasn't updated, so you might still receive it.

While it's entirely possible that it may still arrive today, I can't track via DPD and haven't gotten any notification of a time slot as yet, so the likelihood is rapidly decreasing as it's not far off 5PM now and I've never known a delivery show up after that time.

Like I said earlier, I'm hopeful but skeptical.

Well, just got my delivery confirmation for tomorrow (Wednesday) even though I should have had my order today, given that I ordered before the deadline and paid for next day delivery.
