Hi All,
I am trying to decide which mobo to get for a new 5820K x99 setup. I am not going to be going mad with overclocking, probably just CPU multiplier and a slight voltage tweak and aim for 4.2 to 4.5 . The choice is at the moment down to the MSI x99a-sli, the gigabyte x99 or the asus x99-a. Are they all about the same or is one going to be much better?

Thanks!

X99 Deluxe or ROG.

Deluxe is enough for most users. The x99-A isn't all that great with memory.

I am looking at the lower end boards so sub £225, preferably one of the ones I asked about. The Asus deluxe or ROG boards are total overkill.

I don't have a CPU (bundles at OCUK look good) but why is the Gigabyte one better? I had a look at their x99 boards on the website and there are about 4 or 5 which all look about the same but I got the impression this was the lowest end one?

What ram and will you have a m2 drive

DDR4 2400, not fussed which. If I went for the MSI MB then OCUK do the bundle with 16GB of balitic

Not m2 yet but may do in the future.

How about the asus X99-s? Its basically the deluxe without all the extra crap

Edit: It looks like the x99-s has been replaced with the x99-pro

Another advocate for the MSI boards (X99A Krait here). Nice and clean bios menus and had no problems with any updates or installations.

Asus X99 Pro/Deluxe. You can't go wrong.

yeah go with the asus, I had massive bios issues on 2 brand new gigabyte boards, one after another, it turns out the issue was common and the fix was to flash the bios, I tried and failed miserably, so I got a ROG extreme x99, only problem is I bought a clearance board and it came without the control o/c panel and a few cables and a few bent cpu pins, its ok though I created a big stir and they have agreed to send me out a new one for the price of a clearance one.:)
