So, after a lot of rummaging around the depths of the MM and the bay i've finally got the parts for a budget X99 build, 5820k, MSI SLI Plus and 4x4gb of 2133 DDR4.

Looking around over clocking seems straightforward and fairly similar to X79, though is there anything I need to look out for? I'm talking specific stuff that needs turning off in the BIOS? I remember speed step etc needing to be off as an example.

I've got a Swiftech 240-X to cool it so what would be considered the maximum 24-7 safe voltage and load temps for the CPU?

Thanks in Advance.

I would think you would be looking at about 4.5ghz at around 1.3v. Below 1.5-1.6 is safe but you would need some serious cooling for it. I'd aim for about 70-80c as a maximum but depends how far you want to go, remember they are designed to Run 24/7 just below Thermal maximum but I'd aim for 70-75 degrees if you want to keep it safe. My 5930k does about 55c on games and about 70c on 100% usage so you should aim for something similar.

Most boards come with speedstep, Eco mode etc auto disabled but I'd check just to make sure. But it should be almost as identicle as the x79 board.

Hi, Below 1.5-1.6v? If this is in reference to vcore this is terrible advice. Keep to below 1.35v on water and below 1.3v on air solutions.

VCCIN must be kept sub 2.0v for daily use. There are plenty of guides else where. I wrote up one several months ago but would have to dig it up, not many people really paid attention. Go over to OCN.net if you want assistance, always happy to help you there if you visit either the ASUS or Haswell-E threads.
