Hi guys,

Currently got a system with 4x4GB sticks for 16GB and a 5820K at 4.4GHz running nicely. Looking to add another 4x4GB sticks for 32GB but just wondering if this will have any adverse effects with my overclock? I haven't done anything crazy with the RAM and it's just running at its stock of 2400MHz but if I can keep the same speeds/timings/CPU overclock with all 8 slots populated that'll be a nice plus.

Any input appreciated. Haven't found much useful info on this subject by Googling so just wondering if anyone has any first-hand experience.

32GB @ 2400Mhz shouldn't be an issue, however - mixing memory kits is not advised and there is no guarantee this will work without tuning (latency, voltage). Especially with 8 slots filled, even with ASUS T-topology

I have done it with 64Gb (8x8Gb) and will soon be testing with 128Gb (8x16Gb) Generally the only thing that requires changing is the VCCSA(IMC) voltage.

I am awaiting the 3000Mhz memory to arrive. Should be here next week so will update you then. I will be testing the 16Gb modules as well.

Thanks, would be keen to hear. I've fitted a 4x8gb kit and spent a couple hours yesterday getting it working happily at 2800mhz C15 1T on 100 strap with tight secondary, didn't need any bump on VCCSA over 16gb 3200 C14, at 1.04v.

Use Google Stress App test on Linux Mint if not doing so already. Shatters a few dreams of what is stable.

I asked this same question myself when building my X99 build. Ended up going with 8 sticks of 4gb and the overclock is stable at 4.7ghz from 3ghz on a 5960x, so still overclocked really well. Youll likely be fine and get good results still.
