Been a long time since I upgraded. Looking to go

Gigabyte X99-SLI - Intel Core i7 5820K Six Core CPU & Motherboard Bundle

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-020-GI

Either

Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C16 2400MHz Quad Channel Kit

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-176-CR

or

TeamGroup Elite 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C16 2400MHz

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-058-TG

Which ever comes back in stock first really (although the crucial is same price elsewhere if it comes to it).

Alpenföhn Mounting Kit for Socket 2011

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-040-AL

Sorry it's a bit messy, not sure how to make it neat like other posts. Been a long time since I upgraded so just want to make sure, everything is right.

CPU and motherboard are obviously fine. Memory, all much the same? higher clocked stuff/fancy heatsinks still just a gimmick still?

Other than that, the 2011 kit is for my current cooler, an Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom. My psu is a corsair hx750 and gpu is a 5850 (I know old, next on the upgrade list, but I want to upgrade cpu first, as stuff other than gaming will benefit). No issues there with power?

Thanks :).

There's no issues with power unless you plan to go for SLI, a single 980Ti handles just fine on 750w :)

Otherwise, that looks good. Apparently the TeamGroup RAM will be in stock on Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks. I don't know what card I will eventually go with, but I know it won't be an sli setup.

Ordered the bundle today. Will wait for the Memory. Didn't want to wait, as knowing my luck, memory will come in and bundle with be out of stock :D.

Not been with Intel for years, so the change from amd should be quite a boost :).

Hehe, I don't think they'll run out of bundles any time soon - You have free shipping anyway, so it's fine! The 980Ti is a beautiful card, it has epic performance too. If you can spare £500 on a GPU, there is no better option in my opinion.

Hope you enjoy your build.

That's what I thought, free shipping, so it's all good.

Spending is unfortunetly on a leash now :(. So as nice as that would (maybe little overkill for 1080p 144hz?), gpu will have to wait

No matter, mostly play indies on steam anyway (good old pc gaming £1000s to play indies), cpu upgrade was needed more for stuff outside gaming, that my 8350 is struggling with and to actually have something good to pair up with, when gpu is changed :D.

I'll check into the graphics forum when the funds are there for the gpu upgrade.
