X99 Spec check

Hiya guys,

I'm in a bit of a pickle, i had ordered a 5390 but since have cancelled it.

Reason being is that i'm never going to have more than 2 cards in the system and thought the money saved could go towards a new case and waterblock for the cpu.



My current spec in my basket is:

Intel I7 5280K

Crucial 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-17000C16 2133MHz Quad Channel Kit
(I'll use this until the prices fall a little then upgrade)

Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Full Tower Case - White

I've already bought a Gigabtye X99 UD4 and will be keeping my 290X until new cards are out.

How does it look guys?

Is it worth going for the 5930K after all or will the 5820K be alright for 2 cards?

Anyone already got the 5820K and care to share their opinions on it?

5820k should be more than enough for 2 cards, there's plenty of PCI lanes there, should be fine. Even a 4790k will be fine for 2 cards should you want to spend a little less

Think i'll go with the 5820K then, going to wait perhaps a day or two in the hope that overclockers get some more DD4 in stock i think, really don't like the look of that Crucial stuff even if it's pretty cheap..

Any reason for going for the DDR4 platform so early? Can shave a fair few hundreds pounds off otherwise?
