xampp can't install as service on surface pro 8.1?

anyone know why i can't install apache and mysql as a service on my surface pro 2? it works fine, however this means each time i start the device i need to remember to go to xampp control panel and start them which is quickly becoming annoying.

have you checked to see if they're showing in the windows services control panel (services.msc). check the startup type is set to automatic.

i don't use xampp but i do have mediaportal installed on windows 8.1 and that requires mysql as a service and that works/starts fine.

ok will check now. gives me hope at least that you can get mysql as a service working

they aren't listed there.

edit: got it working, needed xampp control panel to be run as admin, and i was using the start menu to start it so never thought about that.
