Xampp

Hey guys, I have a small problem and it's annoying, hopefully someone can help. I have XAMPP on a pendrive to run a website for Uni, it is my son's. Anyway he was working on it this morning and all was good, but now no matter what he does Mysql keeps starting and stopping without any errors.
He has tried restarting his PC, replacing the files in XAMPP with backed up files and also tried changing the Mysql port but no luck. Apache runs fine using port 80 as usual, normally Xampp runs with port 3036 but it starts and then stops everytime. Anyone got any ideas please?

Alright I have managed to sort it for him, thanks for the tip mate. Ended up having to grab the MySql folder from one of the backed up versions xampp. Really fiddly this thing.
