I currently have an Honor 10 lite which has served me well for a year, however it has a large crack on the screen and I'm using this to justify replacing it with a slightly bigger phone :o.

I've seen the Redmi Note 8 Pro for £149 on the official site: https://mobile.mi.com/uk/redmi-note-8-pro/?gid=4200700050#overview and the specs seems very good for the price.

Size wise, it's almost identical to my wife's Samsung A70 which is big enough to watch Netflix on the go but still manageable. Specs wise, it's pretty similar too. 6gb ram at this price seems very good.

Anyone had much experience with Xaomi as a brand? Will it be made from cheese and die on me in 6 months?

Perfect timing. Looking for a replacement for my mother-in-law's P8 Lite. That phone is a little over 5" and I am struggling to find much in our price range at a similar size. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is obviously larger but that's a lot of phone for £150!

You also get the option to purchase a xaomi mi band 4 at the checkout for £9.99. Seems a great deal as CEX will buy it off you for £15 if you don't want it.

I have the note 8. It's a decent phone for the price. It's the only OS where even the die hard custom ROM'ers don't feel the need to change it.

Just get pro as you said to get that extra GB of RAM.

I'm no expert on phones so it's hard to compare it.

I'd imagine it would almost a mid range phone in the mainstream market. Things like the camera and video will let it down a bit though they're not too bad but you could do a lot better.

Battery life could be better, it has QC 4.0 apparently but you'd have to source a charger from somewhere, they don't seem to be readily available, I didn't look very hard.

I can't see how you can go wrong unless you specifically want high end camera and video.

I've had Xiaomi MiA1, MiA2 lite, Mi Max2 and Mi Mix2.

First three are budget phones but you wouldn't know it apart from the usual problem of low light camera performance.

Mi Mix2 was stunning.

No Problems with any and I'd happily recommend them. Best VFM of any manufacturer in my opinion .

£149 is a load of phone for the money, the only downer is the mediatek chipset which presents some issues for future OS updates but if you don't care about that I don't really see a better option.
