The other night my 360 had this pink cloud going accross the screen so I turned it off for a bit. Now my TV is coming up with unsupported signal.

It's connected by HDMI cable to my 40X3500. I've checked the cable with my PS3 and it's fine, also tried the component and AV cable to no avail.

Is there a way to reset the display settings without being able to see the dashboard?

Also, does anyone know about this pink cloud business?

Sounds like your graphics card is dead, seen this posted quite a few times but never seen it myself.

Mine had a similar problem, the video just went off. I didn't get any pink cloud before hand though.. I cracked my xbox open and re-seated the heat sinks as Microsoft didnt want to know as it didn't have the red rings.

Worth a shot, as its really easy to do, if its out of the 1 year warranty for non-redring related faults.

The GPU has died, it's pretty common same thing happened to mine (no RROD).

The 360's CPU & GPU have no contingency (spare and disabled cores/shaders) so there's a lot of poor yield chips out there with low life expectancy unfortunately.

The CPU ain't so bad yields must be pretty good but the GPU's die left right and center, hopefully it will improve with Jasper revision.

It's like 6 months old.

Phone Microsoft and they will come and swap it for you (well, you'll have to send it off but they'll collect it and replace it)

You could try taking it back to where you purchased it from but most shops will tell you to send it back to Microsoft.

Do yourself a favour and go back to the store you bought it from, so long as you have proof of purchase (either receipt or CCstatement) they have to give you a replacement as it's within 12 months. That's the law as I understand it.

It's much quicker than going to MS, plus you get a NEW machine. MS ship you a refurbed - someone else has a 360 that dies, they evidently cover key internals in silicone and ship it out to someone else. The out casing doesn't get refurbed, so you hear stories of people getting coffee rings on their cases etc.

My first MS replacement lasted less than 2 hours.

After going through 6 of the things since launch, last month I gave up and got a PS3. I'm waiting for the new 360 model which may hopefully solve these issues. Maybe it'll be quieter as well :D
