xb360 noise level

do the newer 360's have quieter disc drives than the older ones? (mine is a year and a bit old) i find my drive way too noisy, and find it hard to concentrate while playing games i.e mass effect or blue dragon. is there anything i can do to make it a bit quieter i.e stick it in the cupboard or something? im fed up with the damn thing sounding like a 747 divebombing. any advice would appreciated! if all else fails im going to try and buy a new one, see if they are quieter. cheers

i dont use XBL anyway so being banned from it isnt really an issue... im sick and tired of the noise, the only other option is to have the xbox in another room and feed the audio/video cables into my room to my telly, i think the wireless controller will still get signal through a plaster wall.

i suppose if i could extend my cables to go up into the loft then down into my room then it would be problem solved, whether or not i can get cables long enough to do that is another thing. the noise of the console takes away the atmosphere for me i guess.

indeed. i hope they fix it in a firmware update. i know the drive can spin slower,i was playing gears of war once. the drive was at full speed, then it slowed right down to almost a stop, but the game carried on playing and loading fine. oh well! not a lot i can do. ill stick with it i guess.
