Hi guys not sure if this should be in the Windows forum or here so feel free to move.

Before i installed WMP11 I streamed music to my XB360 using WM connect with no problems. Now I have WMP11, WM connect has disappeared and the 360 won't conect to stream music??

I have authorised the 360 in WMP11 so it's not that, bit confused, any idea's?

Cheers

Make sure that the 'library' in WMP11 has picked up the folders containing the stuff you want to stream, and that it has added the files in there.

Failing that, try adding the PC again in the media blade on the 360, or running the connection test in the system blade.

Works absolutely fine here for me with minimal configuration needed.

This happened to me and the way I got round it was the following:

Start Menu - Run - type "services.msc"

The services configuration will come up, then look for "Universal Plug and Play", click "start" and then set this to "automatic" and that should now get WMP11 talking to your 360.

Actually tried to get this working last night, used to work fine for me with Windows Media Connect but now I've had no end of trouble. I gave up in the end.

WMP11 is working fine, files are in the library and the 360 is an allowed device but the 360 won't pick up my PC for some reason now :(

Firewall by any chance? check that the router (I'm assuming) allows the automatically assigned IP address for the Xbox360 access to your PC. When I installed and used WMP 11 for the first time I got an alert pop up from ZoneAlarm asking for access from the Xbox360 (I ran the setup on the 360). I just ticked the box to allow it....however it still didn't work so you I checked further.....you may need to open ports on your router:

Q. What are the firewall requirements?

A. To share media to other devices using Windows Media Player 11, several firewall ports on your computer must be open. If you are using Windows Firewall, the required Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports are automatically opened when you turn on media sharing. If you are using a different software firewall, you might need to open these ports manually.....(ports listed in link)

This worked for me....I did read a very informative KB article somewhere (think it was via Xbox360 forums - but cannot find it!)

Also WMP11 overwrites / uninstalls WMC 2.0 as an 'improved' version is incorporated...supposedly ;)

I tried this but it doesn't seem to have made any difference, do you need WMP 11 open when your streaming music (you didn't need to with WM Connect)

Electronic Dave

I'm using windows firewall and my router as a fire wall. When i first used live i had to open various ports to get it to work, the rules for them seem to cover the rules in your link. Should i do these seperatly??

Getting a bit lost here.

I had the same problem.

All i did was set the 360 to the allowed list on WMP11 and then re-search for PCs on the 360 and it found my PC again.

Chadd, My 360 is set to allow on WMP 11 (has been since I installed it this week), I did the search and it still didn't come up, confusion reigns

Did you have WMP11 on when you did the search? I not sure if you have to but i did at the time

Just to be sure you're doing it right..

Right Click on WMP11 and choose 'Tools' .. 'Options'.

Then 'Library' .. 'Configure Sharing' .. and allow your 360 from there.

Then do a search on the 360.

Chadd i fixed it, thanks for your help.

i reread your post and realised that i hadn't rerun a scan for my computer, once i did this all was fine.

Thanks again for your help, have a good evening.
