Best bet is to post the error log. It might give us a clue.

I say us. I don't really know much about these things, but I do use XBMC on a daily basis and have had my fair share of issues to sort out.

I don't think xbmc was ever that good at playing DVDs.

xbmc works fine playing DVDs for me on XBMCBuntu (Eden), either from a drive or from an iso
