I want to be able to stream PC media to a raspberry pi that I have just purchased. I have installed XBMC, rigged it up, its installed all the updates and it can see my PC.

When I try to add a video source and go to SMB then select my PC, I am prompted to put in my username and password (I am assuming this is my windows 8 login) I do this, and press ok and it simply prompts me over and over to add the username and password......

Help would be greatly appreciated :(

Never done this myself, but is this guide any help.

Only thing i can think to try is to right click the folder on your PC, Share with/specific people, select Everyone in the drop down box.

How are your folders set to share? The pi will sit outside of the workgroup so you need to set the folder permission so everyone can read them.

try entering it:
pcname\username
password

"pcname" being the PC that the share sits on.

Otherwise it will presume you are trying to log on with a user from the raspberry pi.
another option would be to go into network and sharing center -> Advanced sharing -> turn off password protected sharing.
