First attempt with XBMC on my HTPC,
managed to that installed, also managed to add the aeon mq 2 skin which is very nice.....and here comes my problem

I add say my music folder as a source, but all that comes up are the standard thumbs. it says i have an add in to get the thumbs....do i have to wait a long time? do i have to tell it to get the thumbs? the whole thing has me very confused...

Any help/a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

Alex/DiCe!

I don't use XMBC for music but for TV/Films you need to set the content type of the folder, it should then go away and download all the album artwork/fan art etc...

Got it all working :) spent a while going through my media renaming/dating. took a while but worth it!

That's easily the biggest challenge with this type of thing but as you say, definitely worth it.

Be aware that there's applications out there that can automatically rename files and place them in the correct folders based on mp3 tag information.

This can also be done on mass for Movies and TV shows.

If your stuff is reasonably well named (ie. TV episodes have the SxxExx identifier in them) you may find that it identifies everything without any renaming being required.

This is true. The scrapers in XBMC will be usuing exactly the type of searches that separate tools like this use to find and rename your files. However I prefer to keep my house in order and this renamer also moves your files about and puts them in the correct folders etc.

Gives you a nice

\TV Shows\Friends\Friends S01\Friends S01E01.avi

structure with one click of the button.

Some of mine are all over the place! so will give this a go tonight or tomorrow as im a tad busy tonight, thanks for the advice folks

Exactly the sort of thing this tool will solve for you. Drag and drop from any location and it will rename and put them all in the correct folders for ya ;)
