I had not played on my XB1 for months until last night, so I figured its time to boot up and catch up but I was hugely disappointed.

The store is still a complete user non-friendly mess, if you compare it to the PSN store it is terrible. The categorising is almost non existent, with basic headings like All Games, Add Ons, Search and Use a Code. Ok there is some sub headings like New Releases, Coming Soon and Top Rated but that is too basic and the interface is horrible to use. This highlighted something else too...

When is the XB1 going to get the EXCLUSIVE killer app that is not a racing game (Forza on a Track and Forza not on a track). With the recent news of Rise of the Tomb Raider only being a timed exclusive I think the console is way behind in securing a true exclusive IP. (Please dont mention Halo as that has been Microsofts baby for donkeys years). Ryse Son of Rome and Dead Rising 3 are no longer exclusive to the console and have been ported to the PC.

Sunset Overdrive is only game I can think of that is decent and a true exclusive (and not a driving game).

I feel disappointed at the moment as my PS4 is used almost daily and last nights play on the XB1 kind of reiterated why I had not played on it in months.

Thoughts?

Maybe you're just used to ps4 layout?

There's always the option of selling it :p, as most good games these days are multipatform. Not worth getting into a debate about it but I'm sure loads of fan boys will soon be here!

I do agree, the Xbox is a total mess. They've made something far worse than the last gen and it continues to be like this so long after launch.

I only now use it for a bit of FIFA or GTA with my only other friend now with one. Gaming is left to the PC. :)

I haven't used mine in ages either - I thought it was supposed to have the best exclusives but have any even been released this year??

I can understand people may perceive my OP having a fanboy undertone but I am a multi platform gamer, PC would be my 'main' platform purely because I prefer any multi plat games on the PC. For me, the exclusives are for the consoles and Id quite happily play all day long on my Xbone IF the exclusive games existed. Sadly, the choice is very limited.

I would not sell my Xbone as I just hope some day soon it gets some decent exclusives and we get out of this trench full of remasters, sequels and last gen releases. We need a true next gen top notch exclusive, in fact, so does the PS4.

I don't worry about exclusives tbh, it's no reason to buy a specific console for.

There are plenty of games to play so what if you miss out on one or two. It's not worth spending £400-£500 to play a game or two every year, especially as you already own a pc and a PS4.

I would sell it in your shoes. I don't get the hype about exclusives. The main game I'm playing now is Destiny, simply because it's a great game not because it's exclusive

The Xbox UI is just rubbish. I hate it. It was designed for Kinect so using with a pad is a nightmare.
I agree that the store layout is poor. I don't understand why there are no sub sections. Why does it not show indie games any more like it did on the 360?

I'm going against the grain here, obviously, but I don't find the UI a problem at all? I wouldn't say it's the greatest UI i've ever had the pleasure of using, but to say it's rubbish, or a mess is a bit of a stretch.

I do agree the store could be better laid out mind, but I don't use it very often so not an issue for me personally.

The PS4 has a great stack of games thanks to PS+ which are keeping me occupied. The Xbone has not had one decent game from gold yet (IMO). For me, it's exactly what Microsoft wanted it to be - a device for watching Twitch and YouTube on. :p

Same here, I have no issues using it with the controller at all - I don't understand why people have so much trouble with it, and they've made improvements month on month.

Not had any major problems with the store but I always just go straight into the search.

With it not putting indie titles into their own category, I think Microsoft said they didn't want that and started to just put them under their respected genres. I might be wrong but I'm about 90% sure they said something along those lines.

The best free game to be released on either platform was on Xbox One: Rayman Legends.

I'm the complete opposite to the OP. I bought a PS4 in November but it's probably had about 5 hours of gaming use (use it a fair bit more for Sky), whereas my Xbox will see that much use in a single day.

For the UI, it's almost always going to be a case of what you're used to. I find it difficult to find anything on the PS4 but on Xbox, especially with being able to pin apps etc, I know where to find everything I need. I rarely venture into the store but if I do it's either for a specific game (use the search) or for a browse through everything. I can't even think what categories would make my browsing experience better.

I think it's also a bit unfair to completely dismiss Halo as an exclusive because "it's been Microsoft's baby for years". I was going to say that the PS4 has the best exclusive with the Last of Us, but it's also on PS3 so I guess that doesn't count either. So what are the killer exclusives that the PS4 has? I'm genuinely asking, because the only games I have are the Last of Us and Far Cry 4.

One of the first things I noticed was how little Microsoft has tried to make the UI more usable for those of us without Kinect. In that sense it is far from good. The other things that annoyed me are things that also annoyed on the 360 though, that being the avatars taking an age to load on any screens they're bought up on. To me they're superfluous and I'd love an option to simply have a list of usernames with the gamer picture rather than avatars.
Bringing back an easy accessible menu for party chat like the 360 had would be good as well

Neither console has that killer exclusive yet, both consoles have some great games but it's all down to what people like.

Owning only a ps4, for me a killer exclusive will be Uncharted when it's released or any other game by naughty dog.

I find it odd that people buy a console and then say they hardly use it. That really says more about one's ability to make an informed purchase than the console itself.

Some folks have good disposable income and do impulse buy tech and gadget's....

Doesn't mean the product is poor. Just means it was a purchase they didn't need. It also means as they aren't a true fan or all thwt into it they see its faults and don't sugar coat the issues the device has. .

Just how it is..
