XBOX 1 hard drive replacement

Is it possible to replace an XBOX internal hard drive with another original drive that has been pulled from another XBOX (not 360)?

Is it as simple as a straight swap?

No not a straight swap. The harddrives are locked to the xbox they came from , you'd have to lock it to the new box before it would work.

Effectively you'd have to mod the Xbox, do the stuff*, then unmod it again.

*Theres a few ways but both will require extra hardware and software. Pretty simply job if you know what your doing though.
