Hi There

Got a Xbox 360 Pro evo pack yesterday from *competitor* and ive come home from work today for a quick game of evo to find 4 red lights and no picture. So i search on google and the microsoft website to find its something to do with the cable. So ive unplugged it plugged it back in etc etc and it still has the red lights. Any idea what the hell im doing wrong or am i going to have to send it back to bloody microsoft :(

er take it back to *competitor* and get a replacement?

Yea good answer mate but thats a ****** mission having to box it all up etc, they allready ****** me around last night for 30 minutes while they got confused etc with the deal :p

Just wondered if anyone had the same problem and may have solved it

For gods sake dont sent it back to MS, there call centres are foreign, they havent a clue what you ar saying and then you will be without a consoles for days/weeks when the faff you about. Get it back to *competitor* for a replacement, im on my 3rd one from GAME. They just swap them.

Are you sure it's actually 4 lights and not 3? (one should be dimmed slightly if it's 3, sometimes hard to tell)

dont forget to check the cable goung into the external PSU (the kettle lead type part) ive knocked that part-out a few time myself and gotten panicked. also try a different VGA/video lead.

Really push the AV cable in tight mate, that happened to me on launch day and I was gutted I was already to go back and kick off until I retried the cable and noticed it would go in another 1/4 inch or so and then fired it up and it was fine

Sorry about the competitor my bad :)

Took it back to the place i purchased it from and got another one, got home plugged it in played one game. Then later on i turned it on and it wouldent read the disc , took the disc out and its destroyed it round the edge

Great :p Love the 360

Back tmor i guess

Did you move your Xbox360 at all when it was on. It will do this to any and all discs. IT sounds stupid I know, but even I've done it accidently.

Nope it was sat on my shelf

I know there just going to try and give me another game, but im going to make sure i get another console so it dosent do it again

:\

I'm unsure as to why the drive would just scratch a disc all of a sudden. The disc does spin very close to the pickup in most optical drives, the slightest movement can cause the disc to warp on the spindle and contact the pickup assembly. Seems to happen a hell of a lot with personal CD players...

You say you used it, then later on used it again and it wouldn't read...did anyone touch the console during the period you weren't using it?

Chuck a disc you don't care about in the drive, copied audio cd or what not, and tilt the console to the side. You'll hear the disc touching the pickup. It does sound daft to some people, but its the same with any optical drive, ps2, original xbox and what not.

I dont know mate, i defentley didnt move it while it was playing. I picked it up when it was turned off and moved it to a shelf above my TV but i cant imagine that did it.

Ive just ordered a Official XBox 360 VGA AV Cable (Xbox 360) and was wondering will that all plug into my Dell 2001FP Monitor ok ? How close will it be to looking like it would on a HD TV

Many Thanks

Sam

You didnt move it while it was on...no one else did either yeah?

I suppose there is a chance that while you were moving it when it was off, the disc dislodged slightly from the platter, and got span back into place when you powered it back up.

The 2001 is a 20" 4:3 monitor, it'll prolly look better than your average SDTV, but not as good as the widescreen version, or a larger widescreen computer monitor (etc)
