Basically got summer coming up, a long one as have just finished my A Levels and looking to go to Uni this year, so essentially is it worth buying a 360, i used to have a gaming PC but that got an expensive hobby and found myself using it less and less so have now bought a Macbook, will a 360 be a good investment to pass time etc. and possibly take to uni, only started considering it recently now i have seen more Halo 3 news, had an old xbox and i would buy a new one just for Halo 3, so essentially, is now the right time to buy? as I cant see the prices shifting much more?

I've seen premiums plus a game for £229 today. Can't really grumble with that price. You can wait forever for the price to come down further or get an elite when ever that get released.

Or just forget the xbox and spend the summer outside :p

I was in the exact same situtation. I bought a 360 and i think i done the right thing ;) . If he spends the summer outside he would spend more that 230 quid tbh :p

Yh get a 360 stay inside for the summer lol, my 360 will probably in and out this summer :( though its not too bad gnna be drinking and partying it with m8s so its all good. Still im going to miss sitting inside playing oblivion for hours on end.

Summer will be mostly spent outside, more looking at it for the late nights / early mornings, looked in the rainforest and there seems to be some good offers, the Gear of Wars + Crackdown looks good for £279, unless i can find a cheaper second hand console of course,

Also, a bit of a tangent, anyone played Pro Evo on the 360? Is it comparable to the PS2 version? Have gotten so used to the PS2 version am wondering if it is the same as the 360 one, barr of course getting used to a different controller.

Cheers.

Note that on your uni network you probably won't be able to use xbox live at all, although they might allow gaming across the LAN :)

Bristol uni rocks. The only thing they block are wireless only devices like the nintendo DS.

found a 360 premium no games for £190.99 just now inc vat though it was listet at £209 on the place i searched ;)

The shop you found that on, CLS, is a known for being ran by a scam artist unfortunately as a very good price.

Shame about Pro Evo, looks like i'll be buying Froza 2, Gears of War, Rainbow 6, and Halo 3 when it appears reading current reviews :D

Good choice i have 2 out of the three you mentioned, obviously getting halo 3 when it is released and forza 2 ill be getting in a couple of weeks, Rainbow six Vegas Multiplayer is the best on the 360 atm imo. Shame about that shop, was a good price.

Not necessarily true, but it was the case at Southampton when i was there, although they did tell me that it should work..

So i bought a HDTV instead! :p

Speaking as a PC owner who got tired of hosing cash on expensive PC hardware, I don't really see my own 360 as being a cheap alternative. Far from it in fact.

The console, controllers, wireless network doodah and all the other tosh you need to make the 360 actually usable set me back a pretty penny, and I even went a bit mad and bought a new HD LCD TV. Games are extremely pricey compared to their PC cousins and so I only buy and sell mine on 'the Bay'. It ain't cheap, and certainly not good value for money.

At the moment I question whether I made the right decision, and I'm setting my sights on Forza 2 and Mass Effect. If these games fail to make an impression like the other titles I've bought and sold on, I will be a touch miffed.

It's a tough call.
