I've had a Creative Megaworks THX 5:1 set for ages now, and while they may be getting on a bit and lacking in inputs, I find they do what I want to do well enough.
Well, that is up until now.
I've just built a new rig and it's Mini ITX and sadly lacks any way of me connecting up my speakers due to the lack of ports (unless I can reconfigure the microphone and line in jacks in software?) but it does have an optical out.
My 360 is hooked up to my 2405 via component and I am currently using a Creative DDTS 30 battery powered decoder to power some headphones via the 360 optical out whenever I want ot fire up a game. This is far from ideal as I keep running the batteries down within 4 hours which is more than annoying.
Is there any way I could hook both the 360 and my ITX rig up via optical using my existing speakers? Do they do a mains powered optical decoder? Or am I gonna have to buy some new speakers?
Sorry for the long post.
Andy
