Thinking of getting a console for the 1st time. I have seen a great bundle for the XBox 360 @ £299. I have a 6 year old Sanyo 28" wide-screen tv, will it do the console justice, or should I wait until I get a HDTV.

I would buy a 360 now and upgrade to an HDTV when you can afford it.
What I would check before hand though is that your current TV supports 60Hz. I bought a 360 to use on my 18 month old 28" WS Philips, only to find that it only really supported 50Hz. Displaying in 60Hz resulted in a slight ghost image which was very offputting.

Thanks, where can I find this out? It's a Sanyo CE28WP3-B, can't seem to find any blurb on it.

How big is your PC monitor? You could play it on that. I'm playing it on a 22" WS LCD Monitor and it looks great through the VGA cable :)

I cant believe how many people are worried about using a 360 with a SDTV. It will still look superb mate! I used a 28 inch crt for months and was blown away.

I only got an HDTV because my old telly broke, and I'm really glad I didn't spend 800 quid on a new telly JUST for the 360.

The difference is subtle, like clearer text and stuff. Don't get me wrong, it looks great on an HDTV, but not 800 quids worth of great!

Hope that helps mate! :)

That's encouraging :D Still not sure about the 60hz.

Im playing ti on a 8 year old 23" TV and its fine, but certainly not looking as good as it could. Mine works with PAL-60, so ill be surprised if yours doesnt.

If you are going to play from an SDTV (like me). I really recommend an RGB cable if your tv supports RGB (very common). Checks the specs online if you aren't sure as it will make a WORLD of difference over composite.

Trust me on this :)

AV1 :CENELEC standard (with RGB/S-Inputs) is what the manual states.

Paul is right, dont let standard TV put you off. It still looks bloody fantastic. I only bought my excellent panasonic 28" about 18 months ago and my 360 via the RGB scart looks brilliant.
