Just bought an xbox 360 plus testdrive unlimited. Its the first time I have played on this console  as I have used my pc for games before now. First impressions are, with this game its kinda dissapointing, does'nt always run that smooth and a few glitches here and there. Graphics are a bit of a let down too.

Please, can someone put my mind at ease and say that this is more a limitation of the game than the console. I think I made a bad choice with TDU. :(

If you've got a broadband connection you could check out a few demos / trailers to see what the console is capable of based on the current crop of games on the market.

Also, I believe that TDU has been patched a couple of times since launch which might give the frame rate a slight boost. If you're connected to the internet the update will apply itself automatically when you launch the game.

Other games with nice graphics (in my own opinion):

Gears of War
Table Tennis
Call of Duty 3
Rainbow Six Vegas
Splinter Cell
Madden 07
Fifa 07

If you've got a HDTV then that makes it all look a bit prettier too

Go out and pick up some new games ;)

Gears of War
Rainbow Six Vegas
PGR3

to name a few.
What type of games are you into though? Shooters? Racers?

yep, shooters, racers. Although it could be any game really as long as its well thought out and the gameplays good.

I think my next purchase might have to be GOW as it seems a lot of people are rating this game highly!!

One other game I was thinking about is COD3..Anygood??

the lack of FSAA lets down TDU graphic wise, but overall I think its a really good game, and looks quite impressive on a HDTV display :D

guess I was just expecting more, even from this game. Will see what I make of GOW when I go grab a copy later today.

I am running my 360 through my 50" HDTV at 720p and 1080i and so far I've only tried tdu and a demo of smackdownvsraw 07. The wrestling characters are the most impressive thing I've seen graphics wise so far.. Until tonight hopefully. :D

I found TDU ran terribly, very jerky. I even exchanged my console because i thought it was the 360, but the new console was the same so i traded the game in. Its only really a multiplayer game TDU i wouldnt bother with it in single player mode it gets a bit pointless.

Well im whored TDU for about 2 weeks and played it on my 19" widescreen pc monitor. Thought it ran smooth and the gfx looked ace tbh. This game comes into its own using XBL though. Still depends what your buying games for really - to look at or to play. If its to look at then you need to keep saying the the below:

It's all about the gameplay baby!

there's the voice of someone who got to a race they couldn't complete. Just because it's hard doesnt make it a bad game. After trying tantalus and failing for the first 14 times i nearly gave up altogether, but i finished it.

Not really, I feel the same about it really and have had no trouble with it at all. Just feels losely stringed together and pointless in my opinion. Not only that but the modding of cars was a massive letdown meaning everyone basically had the same thing.

EDIT: How much did you get for trade in? I might flog this one today.

I did'nt like the demo TDU, it just did'nt feel right to me, if your into racing games you must pick up Project Gotham 3 as its just damn sexeh and great fun to play.

I took delivery of Gears of War yesterday and spent 1 or 2 hours playing it in the dark and it really does look awsome and gameplay is the same. I've gotten to the Berserker bit and it makes you want to laugh and be scared cos it can total you in 1 hit heheh.

Dead Rising is pretty awsome to i personaly think, not amazing amazing graphics but it has so much on screen at one time it makes up for it in the wow factor, great fun killing zomies and a funny story line.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that a good and consistent smooth framerate has a direct impact on gameplay, particularly in a driving game.

I would say it is those people who want detailed graphics and don't mind a low and/or fluctuating framerate, are the ones who value the game's appearance over its gameplay.

I agree with dirtydog to a point. A consistant smooth framerate does impact the gameplay for me. I do not care if it's 30 or 60fps locked, though obviously 60fps looks better for a racer, but it seems as though the 360 isn't up to running at 720p while chucking out high quality scenes and models at 60fps without jerking, so it's 30fps most of the time. I don't really have framerate issues with TDU, but I did with NFS:C, I just had to get that for the PC in the end, as my PC can run it far smoother than my 360 can, which is a shame, as I don't run Windows...

I have now bought GOW and my faith in the 360 has been restored..If games keep to the same standard as this (and I do appreciate that a lot is relied upon the developers of games to cater for all formats). I will be very chuffed with the console indeed. :D
