xbox 360 and video formats support

Hi

I'm thinking of picking a xbox 360 elite today and wondering if I can copy films on to the 120gig hdd it comes with?

I read a lot of sites saying that I have to stream the the films with a media stream program from a pc, but surely I should be able to store the film on the hdd and just turn it on and watch the film from the hdd?

No you can't copy files to the Xbox hard drive. All you can do in that respect is rip music to it through the Xbox itself.
 
You wont be able to store any of the videos on the 360 hard drive, best way I have found is to just stream it all from PC, plays pretty much everything I have tried on it.
 
thanks for the replys, I dont own a windows bases pc at the moment.. and the 120 gig hdd seems pretty much pointless. Can I watch them from a usb pen drive?
