xbox 360 annoying issue

i have a stupid issue thats really bugging me. say i switch my 360 on and say keep it in the normal non gaming mode, u know xbox live with all the news and stuff. right so now i want to switch to my pc just to check the net so i get my tv remote and hit the menu button to switch it to hdmi 1, so far so good. now after messing on the pc i decide to go back to the 360 on hdmi 3, the moment i choose hdmi 3 and press ok the xbox resets itself?????? it acts like i just turned it on, even when playing music the moment i switch to hdmi 3 music stops and it resets. it does not reset when playing a game thank god.

so is this normal

It depends on your television it seems. Mine is fine switching between channels but it refuses to switch on in the first place until you switch to the relevant channel.

Gonna just have to put up with it i'm afraid.

so how come my ps3 doesnt do it, i may just try putting the xbox 360 in the port my ps3 is in to see if it makes a diff

Is yours a Panasonic Viera (LCD?), by any chance? I used to have that same problem with HDMI on mine. The 360 light would go on, like low power mode, but It would not boot up until I switched to the appropriate AV channel.

Different hardware, different way of functioning i guess.

Have you tried turning off the EDID function on the display settings section? I wonder if it's something to do with that.

maybe a remote control conflict try covering up the 360 infa red sensor on the front

have you tried swapping the cables going into the hdmi ports like the 360 into the first or second port ?

Does the problem still happen if you plug it in by component?

I'd wager it's something to do with the HDMI CEC stuff.

What brand is the TV? I have no such problems with my toshiba

tried swapping ports same news tried another cable same, dont have component leads to try. tv is a sammy m87 40 inch

I have a similar problem. If i'm playing on my 360 then turn my TV off if i'm going to be away for a while but want to leave a game paused etc, when i come back and turn my TV on my 360 reboots. TV is a Sony KDL40V4000.

Haven't tried changing channel to see if that reboot it also.
