hey, i saw the arcade version in my local shops for a really good price, but it got me thinking, why is it so cheap, i know it doesn't come with the harddisc but do you need that to play xbox 360 games?

can a harddrive be brought and fitted to the arcade console or does it not accept it?

cheers for any help

No you don't need a hard disk to play games. I think the arcade comes with a memory card for saved games.

And yes you can just go out and buy a hard disk and attach it.

Any Xbox 360 hard drive will fit on an Arcade model.

You don't need to get a hard drive, but you'd be stupid not to imo, especially when the NXE will take half of the storage you'll get an arcade right off the bat.

Go for the Pro (60gb) or Elite (120gb) models. Or if you're really strapped for cash and can't save up, an Arcade and pick up a 20gb cheap.

You'll regret it down the line when you begin to get limited on space.

I got an Arcade Nov 07, Then I got a 2nd hand 20GB from M&M a month or so later.
With the NXE allowing games to be loaded to HD a 20GB is to small, Loading games to HD makes my 360 Whisper quiet so I am going for a deal with a Major game shop for a 60GB HD a controller an Ethernet lead & 3 months live for 50 quid
There are many options but to be Completly happy with your 360 you will need a 60GB+ HD ;)
