Xbox 360 Audio - HDMI modded cable issue

I got my new monitor today and I'm trying to play it through my 360 and get audio at the same time.

The montior doesn't have an audio out cable so I modded the Xbox 360 component cable and took the casing off it around it so that it fits next to my HDMI cable in the 360, and then I plugged the red and white RCA jacks into a Y Adapter which then goes into my sound card.

This should give me sound from my 360 but when the component cable and the HDMI cable plugged in, I get no image on my monitor.

Any ideas?

Well I even just tried it with an RCA adapter and it's doing the same thing. As soon as I unplug the RCA adapter, the xbox comes straight on. :(

I can hear the sound comming through the speakers when the Xbox turns out, but it just constantly keeps resetting it's self.

I'm selecting HDMI as source on my monitor but no joy. I had it on working fine just and I had no idea how I did it. :/

Ah ffs so I've gotta solder stuff? :(

With the modded cable and an RCA adaptor it does the exact same thing :( I actually had it working just but I have no idea how

I cut a black wire to stop mine resetting can't remember the instructions but it was a black looped wire at the end.

I've just picked up an OFFICIAL RCA Adapter online. Does anyone know if this would actually stop the console from resetting when changing source?

No it won't stop it, it happens because the HDMI and component cable are simultaneously connected.

I not long read a few people saying buying an official one stopped the Xbox from looping for them.

Like I say I can get it to work now, I just have to be on my monitor menu first for some reason.

Cheers

Well I've never heard of that working, the only way I've heard is to open the metal casing and disconnect a black wire.

I see, well if the official Xbox 360 RCA Adapter doesn't solve the issue I guess I'll be having to look at that.

Failing that, would it work if I just bought a cheapish SPDIF sound card (I have an xbox S) and just run an SPDIF cable from my Xbox to the soundcard?

Cheers

If he's got the official RCA adaptor in his xbox, where is he going to plug his component cable in?

You can't plug them both in at the same time, only one or the other, but as he has said he is getting the reset issue with both.

From what I have read, it seems as though the RCA adapters are fixing it for some people but aren't for others.

Just letting you know that with an official RCA Adapter, their is no Xbox 360 reset issue at all. Great stuff. :)

If anyone would like the link on where to buy one let me know.

Cheers!
