Hi,

I have just got a VGA cable for my Xbox 360 so I can plug it into my Dell 2405fpw and it comes with an optical cable... I figured that I could just plug the optical cable from my Xbox VGA cable into my Audigy 2 ZS sound card which would then output the sound through my speakers which are connected to the Audigy card via the normal "jack" things. Now I'm not sure if this is going to work as it would seem that you normally run an opitcal cable from a sound card to the speakers.

If this isn't going to work then it's a problem because I don't have a hi-fi or any speakers with optical in, could anyone suggest any speakers that would be good for the xbox 360 (preferably 5.1 surround). Also it would be an extra bonus if my PC can use them as well as this would save on space.

Any help is appreciated,
Thanks.

You need a converter for the red and white audio jacks on the VGA cable to enable it to plug into the line in on your sound card.

So RCA plugs to 3.5mm jack

Edit: Something like this

If you can find the Altec Lansing ADA885's on auction or on sale anywhere for under £50 snap them up.

Awesome speakers, 4.1 but have DD decoder inbuilt that takes co-ax (you'll need a optical->co-ax converter though, about £15) and will plug into your computer as well. Great speakers and can be had for an absolute bargain price if you look around
