Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility

When you put a old xbox game in a X360 does it have to download a file for every game, I have Halo 2 and SSX3 and both of them downloaded a file and they work perfectly.

I got HL2 off a friend and that doesnt download a file and subsequently doesnt load up properly, my router flashs for access just as the game starts as if its looking for the file but then boots straight to game.

I know HL2 is supposed to be the buggiest of all the old xbox games but I thought they fixed most of it which would further my thoughts into there should be an update.

Generally the 360 will have more up-to-date versions of the compatibility software for each game. I guess the version the 360 already has for Half-Life 2 will be the most up to date version it has.

Thanks for that DaveyD, I just tried switching it to Pal 50 and it seems to be working ok now.

It checks for the latest version of the Back. Compat. software every time you load up an XBox game.
